Real Madrid Luka Modric and Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic have both reacted to being drawn in Group D alongside the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Modric and Rakitic will begin their campaign in Russia on June 16, 2018, against the Super Eagles at the 35,000 –capacity Kaliningrad Stadium. The '98 edition bronze medalist will then face Argentina who have
in their ranks Rakitic's club-mate Lionel on June 22, 2018, before their final group game against Iceland who edged them to the European Group I top spot during the qualifiers.
Both stars in their assessment of the World Cup opponents admitted they were in for a tough fight in Russia come next summer but remained optimistic of their progression to the round of 16 of the competition.
Rakitic in a message on his official Twitter account said: "Difficult group, but with great enthusiasm to do something important A tough group at the @fifaworldcup, but confident to show great performance."

took to his Instagram page to express his thoughts on the draws, saying: "A tough and complicated group but we will be ready and looking forward to the challenge that’s expecting us."
The Blazers' World Cup curtain-raiser against the Super Eagles will be their first encounter against the West African giants in any competition at the senior level.
