Cristiano Ronaldo's sister Katia Aveiro posted a touching mocked up image of their father Jose looking at a screen comprising of an image of his son and family celebrating his record-equalling Ballon d'Or win.

Jose died in 2005 at the age of 52 due to liver failure following a lengthy battle with alcohol addiction. Ronaldo was just 20 at the time and was in his second season with Manchester United.

The Real Madrid superstar admitted that he had a difficult relationship with dad, who was not alive to see him realise his full potential and take the footballing world by storm.

In the 2015 film 'Ronaldo' which charted his rise to the top, he said:

"I didn't get to know him for real, from the heart and I don't know why he drank, maybe he was frustrated with his life.

"I wanted a different father, one who would be more present to see my achievements."

Jose is undoubtedly looking down, proud at what his son has achieved and Ronaldo's older sister paid tribute on Instagram with a lovely post.

Translated into English, the caption reads: "Just for 10 seconds dad, I'd give everything just for 10 seconds....#Imissyoudad."

Back in September, Ronaldo welcomed twins into his family and took to Twitter to share a picture of himself with Cristiano Jr and twins Eva and Mateo, with a painting of his dad in the background.

Ronaldo, who now has four children in his family after his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez gave birth to a baby girl last month, says being a father has "completely changed" him.

And his eldest son is every bit just like his dad and already reckons he's going to become a footballer and surpass him.

"I see a bit of myself in Cristiano Jr and not only because he is my son," Ronaldo said about his seven-year old, as quoted by The Mirror.

"He told me that he will be better than me. He tells me that he will win a Ballon d'Or and that he will win five."

Clearly Cristiano Jr, who can regularly be seen in action on the pitch on his father's social media, has the same drive and confidence as his not so old man,
