Lionel Messi shows how accurate he really is in challenge on Japanese game show

For some odd reason, a random video will appear on YouTube every so often featuring Lionel Messi taking part in some bizarre football-related challenge for a Japanese game show.

The Barcelona superstar has taken part in various challenges over recent years, most of which have involved attempting to beat robotic goalkeepers.

Messi has, of course, smashed every challenge so far - what else would you expect from the player many consider as the greatest footballer of all time? - but how would he fare in this latest challenge?

The Argentina international was given 100 seconds to hit all 20 panels spaced out evenly inside a full-sized goal.

No robotic goalkeepers this time; just a simple, straightforward test of his accuracy.

Never in doubt.

It took Messi 82 seconds to knock down all 20 panels with that majestic left foot of his.

You get the impression that he could have completed the challenge even quicker if he’d got out of first gear. But maybe he just wanted to be as accurate as possible with every strike of the ball, rather than hitting and hoping for the best.

Messi has been in magnificent form this season

Messi has been just as accurate during competitive matches this season.

The 30-year-old has netted 25 goals in 30 games, 19 of which have been scored in La Liga, making him the leader in the race for the Pichichi.

He may have missed out on the 2017 Ballon d’Or to Cristiano Ronaldo, but his form since the turn of 2018 has been exceptional.

Joaquin summed up Messi perfectly

Betis legend Joaquin said: "Messi is the best player I've seen. I’ve seen very good players, but this guy ... I got the feeling, on the pitch when I faced him, that he has the ability to win the game whenever he wants.

"I think he says this to himself: 'Now I will score', and he scores. And he's been doing it for 10 years. He's played 70 games during the year. He also changes the game when he wants, but as a finisher.

"As a soccer player in the literal sense of the word, I prefer Messi."
