Our sympathies this afternoon are extended not just to Real Madrid as a whole but specifically their full back Marcelo and his family after he was destroyed by Lionel Messi, it won't be a happy Christmas for them.
It might not quite be Christmas yet but Barcelona all but decided their fate as La Liga champions for next year as they battered fierce rivals Real Madrid at the Bernabeu to go 14 points clear of their hosts.
All Clasicos are important but with Real sitting in fourth place in the league and already so far behind Barca in the league they knew they couldn't afford to lose but inspired by Messi they were well beaten.
Already 2-0 and a man down in stoppage time the Argentine helped rub salt in the wound by easily getting past Marcelo, leaving him on the ground, to set up Alex Vidal for the third and final goal:

Fans were concerned for the Brazilian full-back:
It's not going to be a particularly Merry Christmas in the Marcelo household but he will be happy to be as far away from one of the world's best players as he possibly can be.
