- With Emmerson Mnangagwa as Zimbabwe's new president following Robert Mugabe's exit, the position of First Lady has also shifted from Grace Mugabe to Auxillia Mnangagwa

- Auxillia, second wife of President Mnangagwa, officially became the First Lady when her husband was sworn in on Friday, November 24. But just what do we know about the new First Lady?

On Friday, November 24, the world witnessed the swearing in of Emmerson Mnangagwa as Zimbabwe's second president since the country attained its independence from Britain in 1980.

Thousands of Zimbabweans, their local leaders and foreign dignitaries gathered at the 60,000-capacity National Sports Stadium in Harare to welcome Africa's newest head of state.

Yes, uncle Mugabe is gone, and Zimbabwe has a new Commander-in-Chief. And there is also a brand new First Lady in the State House. Her name is Auxillia Mnangagwa.

As The Telegraph rightfully puts it, an ecstatic Auxillia couldn't escape the camera lens and the global spotlight that turned on her as she sat humbly next to her powerful husband.

Occasionally, the new First Lady was captured on camera while leaning her head towards her smiley, observant and sharp-looking husband to whisper a word.

One could say the flame they had when they first locked eyeballs had just been rekindled in their 31-year-old marriage and with a son named after his dad. They call him Emmerson Mnangagwa Junior.

For starters, Tuko.co.ke has gathered that the dazzling new First Lady was reportedly born on March 25, 1963 in Mazowe District , Mashonaland Central of Zimbabwe. To be precise, she is 54.

A few similarities exist between Auxillia and the 52-year-old former First Lady Grace Mugabe, who nearly became vice president when Mugabe dramatically sacked Mnangagwa.

Both ladies are ambitious and daring and have made major inroads in Zimbabwe's political arena.

Just like Grace was trying to take over from her husband Mugabe, Auxillia actually replaced her husband Mnangagwa as elected Zanu-PF Member of Parliament in his constituency when he was promoted to the position of the vice presidency in 2014.

However, there are also apparent differences both in personality and priorities between Auxillia and Grace. Unlike the former First Lady, a combative woman who is also perceived to be arrogant, Auxillia has been described by writers as a humble woman of virtue who thinks about others first.

"Those who stay near Auxillia's Sherwood Farm on the outskirts of Kwekwe heap praises on her as she has exhibited the highest level of good neighborliness," The Herald reports.

Also unlike Grace who has in recent past stayed in the news headlines for nearly all the wrong reasons, Auxillia has not yet courted any major controversies that people may dwell much on.
