Barcelona's record-breaking unbeaten run could be under threat with the news that Lionel Messi will not feature during Sunday's encounter with Levante.
La Liga's leading scorer was somewhat of a surprise omission from the 18-man squad, but a statement on Barcelona's website revealed it was manager Ernesto Valverde's decision, which suggests he's giving Messi a rest during the penultimate week of the season.

Sergi Roberto, who received a four-match ban for a straight red card against Real Madrid, will also miss the match, along with Samuel Umtiti (knee) and Aleix Vidal (rest).
Regardless of whether Messi features in the final match of the season, he'll likely claim his fifth La Liga scoring title after tallying 34 goals - nine more than runner-up Christiano Ronaldo - in 35 appearances.
News of Messi's absence follows Wednesday's 5-1 win over Villarreal, which maintained Barcelona's unbeaten season with two matches remaining. It also extended the club's record-breaking streak without a loss to 43 matches.
If the Blaugrana can avoid defeats against Levante and Real Sociedad. Barcelona will become the first Spanish side to finish the season unbeaten since the 1930s.
