Seven suspected kidnappers, including two ladies have been arrested by troops of the Nigerian Army after an invasion on a shrine located in the Omoku area of Rivers State.

Reports say the men from the 6 Division of the army swung into action following a tip-off from a concerned citizen that one Johnson, aka Don Waney was operating a shrine in the area.

However, the kidnap suspects engaged the troops in a fierce gun battle but were overpowered as some of them, including the gang leader escaped into hiding with gun wounds.

Confirming the incident, Colonel Aminu Iliyasu, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations and 6 Division Spokesperson, revealed that the troops were still on the trail of the leader of the gang and his other cohorts who escaped.

Iliyasu; “The troops recovered a number of items at the camp and the shrines, including 10 human skulls, human bones, two AK-47 rifles, 1 General Purpose Machine Gun, 18 AK-47 rifle magazines and four pairs of military camouflage.

“We thank the residents of Omoku for the timely information and ask for their support to rid our area of militants, illegal oil dealers and kidnappers.”
